In October 2023, I was asked by Je’Nen and Evelyn, of Practice Disrupted, to share my perspective on mental health strategies for architects and designers. This was especially rewarding as a graduate of the NCSU College of Design, and felt like a full circle moment bringing together both my foundation of design and passion for mental health and well-being.

In September 2023, I sat down with David Watkins, founder of Plan My Kids, an awesome service to help connect parents to resources for their kids of all ages. His podcast, Parenting Pioneers, focuses on the challenges of parenting in rapidly changing world.

In April of 2018, the lovely students at Enloe High School in Raleigh hosted their own TEDx event. I was honored to be invited to speak, so excited to share what I love with others, and terrified. The final product isn't perfect (the slide clicker ran out of batteries halfway through the show), but hey, that's real life, right?! As I look at this video I realize that not only was it awesome to tell so many people about self-compassion, it was evidence of how far I'd come from being scared to raise my hand in class. I could have never imagined being up on a stage speaking, but it's actually through those very ideas I share in my talk, that made it possible for me to do this...broken clickers and all!

In this talk Therapist Allison Grubbs discusses the importance of resilience, how to find it and use it, especially during high school. Therapist in Raleigh, North Carolina. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
